Shakespeare's Henriad Tetralogy: Richard II

  • The Agora Foundation 1129 Maricopa Highway Ojai, CA, 93023 United States (map)

This free online series will explore four of Shakespeare’s historical dramas which develop a continuous theme, known as the Henriad Tetralogy. The term Henriad suggests that four plays (Richard II; Henry IV, Part 1; Henry IV, Part 2; and Henry V), when considered together as a group, have a coherence and characteristics that are the primary qualities associated with literary epic. In this context the four plays are analogous to Homer's Illiad, Virgil's Aeneid, Voltaire's Henriad, and Milton's Paradise Lost. Please register in advance for this one-time live event.
