Thomas Jefferson amassed one of the greatest personal libraries in the early Republic, and frequently wrote of the important role education must play in a free and democratic society. His personal library at Monticello would go on to form the nucleus of the new Library of Congress. Join us for a live Q&A with Monticello librarian, Endrina Tay HERE. The Jefferson Research Library is part of Robert H. Smith International Center for Jefferson Studies. Ms. Tay will discuss Jefferson's passion for books and her ongoing research into his book collections.
