Horses were part of everyday life in early America. While George Washington is better remembered as an avid equestrian, Thomas Jefferson was also a passionate, lifelong horseman. Indeed, Jefferson continued his habit of daily rides up until just three weeks before his death at the age of 83. In this week’s livestreams, we’re focusing on horses. Mr. Jefferson will discuss his love of horses, and the role horses played on the plantation and in the lives of enslaved people at Monticello. Please join us for this live visit with Mr. Jefferson himself, interpreted by master scholar-interpreter and founding Innermost House Advisor, Bill Barker HERE.
