In 18th-century Williamsburg you would often find American Indians from various nations and tribes walking the streets, freely mingling with residents of European and African descent. Sometimes they were immediately recognizable, sometimes they were so far assimilated into the city that only the removing of a hat would reveal their distinctive cut of hair. That free mixing remains true today. Please join two members of Colonial Williamsburg's American Indian Initiative and ask your questions about native peoples from Williamsburg’s past and in the city today HERE.
