In celebration of Black History Month, this February the San Francisco Historical Society will be posting a series of lectures and oral histories highlighting African American history in San Francisco. Our first presentation is “Revealing San Francisco’s 19th-Century Black History” presented by Susan D. Anderson, History Curator and Program Manager for the California African American Museum. She presents a history of African Americans in 19th century San Francisco through the lens of artifacts in the California Historical Society collection HERE.
