What can we say we know with certainty? What does it mean to say that we know something? How do we know that we know? How does knowledge differ from belief? This series will include works from Plato, Aristotle, Empiricus, Descartes, Hume, Nietzsche, Russell, and Popper. Beginning at the beginning, with the paradigmatic Platonic dialogue, “Meno,” we continue with Aristotle’s Posterior Analytics, a text that deals with demonstration, definition, and scientific knowledge. Reading: Books 1-4. Please register in advance for this one-time online seminar. TIMES IN PST.
