In 18th-century city of Williamsburg would have found American Indians from various nations and tribes walking the streets, engaging in trade, negotiating treaties, and going to school. American Indians were so interwoven into the daily life of Williamsburg that is was sometimes difficult to distinguish between the Native American and European until a man removed his hat to reveal distinctive Native forms of hair dressing. Please join members of the American Indian Initiative at Colonial Williamsburg to discuss Native life in Virginia and the larger nation then and now HERE.
