Join us for a special livestream with Monticello's Director of Archaeology, Fraser Neiman; Research Archaeologist, Derek Wheeler; and Manager of Archaeological Field Research, Crystal O'Connor. These three archaeologists will present "lightning talks" on recent discoveries at Monticello. Dr. Neiman will discuss recent field research exploring Jefferson's decision to switch from tobacco to wheat cultivation. Mr. Wheeler will discuss how Jefferson refashioned the ornamental landscape that separated the house from the plantation's field after his return from France. Ms. O’Connor will share newly-excavated evidence of Jefferson's early engagement with French cuisine HERE.
